Canonical URL

The official URL for a piece of content when multiple URLs could show the same thing. Tells Google which version to index and rank.

Important for duplicate content scenarios. For example, when you have a product page reachable through multiple category paths, the canonical tag tells Google 'this is the version that should appear in search results.'
