A thinking partner. Without the agency retainer.

Sometimes you don't need someone to build the thing. You need someone to help you decide what the thing should be, or whether to do it at all.

Not every problem needs a multi-month engagement. Sometimes the question is whether to rebuild your site or extend the current one. Whether to hire in-house or outsource. Whether the AI tool a vendor's pitching is worth the money. Whether your tracking is set up to answer the question you need answered.

Consulting is how we work with founders who already have a team and just need a sharp outside perspective for an afternoon, a week, or a one-off project. No retainer. No minimum. No upsell. Sometimes we end up doing larger work together afterward, sometimes we don't. Both are fine.

What's included

  • 01Hourly calls: book one or a series, talk through whatever's in front of you
  • 02Diagnostic engagements: short, scoped projects to assess a specific area (SEO, analytics, brand, tech stack)
  • 03Vendor and tool evaluations: read the contract, vet the pitch, give you a straight answer
  • 04Strategy sessions: half-day or full-day workshops on positioning, growth, or operations
  • 05Second-opinion reviews: designs, proposals, contracts, audits from other vendors
  • 06Hiring support: write the job spec, sit in on interviews, evaluate finalists

Our process

  1. 01

    Short intake

20-minute call to understand what you need help with. We'll tell you if a full engagement is wrong and consulting is right, or vice versa.

  2. 02

    Scope

Hourly, fixed-scope diagnostic, or workshop. We agree on what success looks like before billing starts.

  3. 03

    Work

Async review, live working sessions, or both. Output depends on the engagement: could be a written recommendation, a workshop summary, a vendor evaluation memo, or just a productive conversation.

  4. 04

    Optional follow-through

If the consulting work leads to a larger project, we credit the consulting hours toward it. If it doesn't, that's fine too.

Who this is for

  • Founders with capable internal teams who occasionally need outside perspective
  • Businesses evaluating vendors, tools, or in-house hires and want a second opinion
  • Companies where someone else is doing the work and you need an outside read on whether it's good
  • Investors or acquirers doing technical or digital due diligence on a small business

What this isn't

Not a discount entry point to our other services. Consulting is its own thing. Some clients use it once and never come back, and that's by design.

Common questions

What does it cost?
Hourly consulting and short diagnostic projects are priced per engagement and quoted up front, with no surprises. Larger fixed-scope projects fit inside our standard $5,000 to $10,000 CAD project range. We send a clear quote after the 20-minute intake call.
How quickly can we start?
Usually within a week. For one-off hourly calls, often within a few days.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes. Mutual NDA is standard for any engagement involving sensitive business information. We respect client confidentiality. We never disclose who we work with publicly without permission.
Can you help me evaluate another agency's proposal?
Yes. This is one of the most common consulting engagements. We read the proposal, compare to market pricing and standard scope, flag anything missing or padded, and give you a written assessment.
